GMA is seeking candidates for an internship in our Science Program Management group work on updating the GMA Food Safety and Modernization Act website to include updated final rules, education and training opportunities, and GMA FSMA related offerings. In addition to re-vamping the website to make it more organized and efficient for our members, the intern will also work on updating the Supplier Hand book and/or Allergen Hand Book working with GMA staff and GMA members.Your key contacts will be GMA staff and member companies’ staff on an as needed basisYour day-to-day responsibilities would include:
Developing documents, meeting agendas; meeting minutes, etc. using MS Office suite and GMA database systems.
Assisting with managing and updating the FSMA website.
By the end of this internship, the intern will have learned about the Food Safety Modernization Act, including the process and history of rulemaking, and about the groundbreaking regulations of the Preventive Controls for Human Food, Preventive Controls for Animal Food, Foreign Supplier Verification Program, 3rd Party Accreditation and Certification, Sanitary Transportation, and Food Defense Final Rules. An understanding of how these regulations affect food producers will be obtained, in addition to how GMA’s role helped shape the framework of these regulations. The intern will also get the opportunity to learn about possible career paths available within the food and consumer products industry, through daily interactions with GMA staff and members.
