Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) is seeking candidates with background in Food Science, Toxicology, Public Health or a related field to contribute to our work on ingredient safety policy issues.
The Analyst, Ingredient Safety will work hand-in-hand with our Food and Personal Care Product Safety team and with representatives from some of CPG’s leading companies.
Essential job duties include:
• Monitor assigned issues, policy proposals, legislation and private sector activity. o Inform and educate the team and our members about the scientific and technical proposals that affect the industry. o Manage production of white papers, technical reports, guidance documents and other resources as assigned. o Draft comment letters to government agencies in response to proposed rules and other actions. o Organize internal and external meetings and related communications for working groups and member committees. • Serve as staff resource to provide technical, regulatory and scientific support to members including the Chemicals Management Committee and various working groups as assigned. o Maintain up-to-date subject matter expertise on ingredient safety initiatives. o Attend and provide summary reports on meetings, conferences, webinars and teleconferences on science and policy issues of interest to GMA and its members. o Monitor the Product Safety Email Inbox; ensure that all questions are answered and information requests are fulfilled timely. • Develop new resource materials to address information and education needs of GMA members. o Identify training needs of industry in assigned regulatory compliance areas; contribute to the development of new training and education materials; assist in the delivery of training as assigned. o Contribute to the achievement of financial goals for educational programming in the Scientific and Regulatory Division of GMA.
The best candidates for this position will hold a degree (advanced degree preferred) in food science, toxicology, public health or a related area with a working knowledge and professional interest in CPG industry issues. Your professional work record should include at least 1 year of CPG industry or private sector work assignments – we prefer experience in CPG ingredient/product safety arena along with a solid grounding the in the regulatory process. If you are a self-starter with strong interpersonal, analytical and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional project teams with colleagues, members, partners and other stakeholders we hope to hear from you.
