GMA is currently seeking candidates for a Corporate Accountant to join our Finance and Accounting department. The new Corporate Accountant will perform half (50%) of their time on the day to day and monthly accounting for GMA and all of the accounting for the Science and Education Foundation (SEF). The Accountant works closely with the GMA Accounting Management to assist with general ledger and other accounting projects as needed.
The Corporate Accountant is accountable for these duties:
Perform GMA Science & Education Foundation accounting functions including preparing journal entries, entering data into Microsoft Dynamics accounting system, analyzing balance sheet accounts and drafting monthly financial statements.
As part of the monthly GMA close process, prepare standard journal entries, analyze selected GMA balance sheet accounts and investigate and make corrections.
Performs GMA day-to-day operational accounting activities in sub-ledgers and the general ledger that include: Accounts Payable functions - initiating all wires, reviewing AP vouchers, transmitting positive pay files, clearing checks and preparing various check requests.
Prepare schedules for required financial filings and annual audit
Assist with the annual budgeting and forecasting process for GMA and SEF
Monitor the daily cash flow needs for GMA and SEF.
The best candidates for this position will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting plus 3 years of related experience with primary responsibility in foundation accounting. Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics accounting software or similar, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Power Point and database applications is required. GAAP Accounting experience and advanced knowledge of Excel and relational database experience necessary.
